Risk Modeller (Energy)
Join Mitiga as a Risk Modeller (Energy): translate climate data into actionable financial risk insights and collaborate across teams to shape resilient energy strategies.
About Us
Climate change is creating unprecedented challenges worldwide. At Mitiga Solutions, we help organizations understand, anticipate, and manage climate-related risks with science and technology.
Born from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, we combine climate science, advanced modelling, and AI to turn complex data into actionable insights—from real-time forecasting to long-term projections.
Our mission is to build resilience and help organizations adapt. We’re looking for a Risk Modeller to join our Science team and shape the next generation of climate risk solutions for the energy sector.
In this role, you’ll develop quantitative methods that convert climate hazards into business and financial impacts. You’ll collaborate with scientists, engineers, product teams, and clients to build robust risk models for decision-making under uncertainty.
This is ideal if you enjoy tackling complex problems, working with uncertainty, and applying scientific insights in real-world solutions.
What You’ll Do
Develop and enhance risk modelling methodologies for our energy climate risk products.
Translate climate data into actionable business and financial risk metrics.
Design and validate probabilistic and statistical models.
Collaborate with product, data, and engineering teams to operationalize methodologies into scalable solutions.
Contribute to research and innovation initiatives related to climate and energy risk.
Engage with clients and partners to understand industry challenges and support product adoption.
Help evolve our energy risk offering and contribute to broader climate risk projects across the company.
What We're Looking For
Master's degree or PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Physics, or a related quantitative field.
3+ years of experience in risk modelling, quantitative analysis, or related disciplines.
Strong knowledge of statistical modelling, uncertainty analysis, and probabilistic methods.
Experience working with Python, R, or similar analytical tools.
Understanding of the energy sector, particularly renewable energy, asset risk, portfolio management, or financial impacts.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a high degree of autonomy.
We are open to a range of backgrounds. What matters most is drive, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine interest in climate or infrastructure.

About Mitiga Solutions
Diversity & inclusion
A recent study shows that one in every 10 tech workers in Spain are women. Only 8% of all contracts in 2019 with people with disabilities were in technology and science. Meanwhile, 30% of LGTBIQ people in Spain don't come out in the workplace for fear of discrimination.
This is neither the world we want to live in nor the workplace we’re building.
Mitiga Solutions is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status. In fact, we strongly encourage applicants from minority groups to apply.
We believe diversity isn’t a checkbox but a strategic strength. We actively seek out different perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences because they make us better.
Inclusion means everyone has a seat at the table and a voice that’s heard. It’s not just policy, it’s how we build, hire, and lead.
